hosts open house

BRATTLEBORO -- Sabrina Daigh Smith is having an open house to celebrate the opening of her massage practice in her new location at 124 Flat Street, Suite 201, on Friday, April 4, during Gallery Walk, from 5 to 8 p.m.

During the open house, Smith will be offering 10-minute chair massages on a walk-in basis. Refreshments will be provided.

SEVCA to host Financial fitness workshop in April

BRATTLEBORO -- Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) is hosting an eight-part financial fitness workshop series to help participants discover how to use the money they have and take steps toward prosperity. Participants will learn to improve their relationship with money, increase cash flow and experience financial security.

Other topics covered include saving, spending, credit, paying for college, purchasing a home, purchasing a car, insurance and retirement. Participants may have their credit report reviewed and recommendations provided to take steps to build healthy credit or resolve credit issues. This financial coaching will help people develop strong financial habits.

The workshop is free and open to the public and begins on Wednesday, April 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., continuing each Wednesday night through June 4, at Marlboro College Graduate School, 28 Vernon St. Registration is required. BMH Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine welcomes new physician assistant

BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro Memorial Hospital has added Maureen Mahoney, PA-C, ATC, to the Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine department as a new physician assistant.

Mahoney’s experience includes working as a physician assistant at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Keene, N.H., and at Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend. Previously, she was the head athletic trainer at Wellsley College in Massachusetts.

Mahoney completed the Physician Assistant Program at Cornell University Weill Medical College in New York City. She earned a bachelor of science degree in sports science and athletic training from Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, and a master of arts in Teaching, School of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.

"Maureen is an excellent addition to the BMH Orthopaedic practice," says Bonnie McKellar, vice president of Physician Services and Business Development at BMH. "She is versed in common orthopaedic problems and in the management of orthopaedic patients with chronic medical illness such as, but not limited to, diabetic neuropathy, vitamin D deficiency, and chronic pain. She also has extensive practice in the area of sports medicine and podiatric care."

BMH adds new physician assistant to Brattleboro Internal Medicine

BRATTLEBORO -- Brattleboro Memorial Hospital has announced the addition of Paul Stanchfield, PA-C, as a new physician assistant at Brattleboro Internal Medicine, as of March 24.

Stanchfield has more than a decade of experience as a physician assistant, including working at the Brattleboro Retreat, Brattleboro Primary Care, and Mount Anthony Primary Care. He completed the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Westminster College of Salt Lake City.

"Paul brings with him a wealth of experience in primary care," says Bonnie McKellar, vice president of Physician Services and Business Development at BMH. "He is well liked and well respected by the community. We are very excited to have him as part of our care team."
