AGRICULTURAL TALK: Former Vermont Secretary of Agriculture, Roger Allbee, will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Brattleboro Senior Center, 207 Main St. He will present a slide presentation about Vermont’s ongoing agricultural heritage at the monthly meeting of the local AARP chapter. Programs precede business meetings and the public is welcome to attend.

Allbee has had varied experiences in a life dedicated to promoting agriculture. He was an Extension Service specialist at Cornell University for a number of years. He served in Washington, D.C., as Trade Advisory Commissioner for Farm Animals and Animal Products while Jim Jeffords was in office and he is now chair of The Working Landscape Committee of Vermont. He was Vermont Secretary of Agriculture from 2007 to 2011.

MARCH ON D.C. FILM: Public Television has produced a film on the March on Washington that will air nationally later this year, the 50th anniversary of the march.

A preview showing and discussion of the film will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. at Brattleboro Union High School in the Multi-Purpose Room. The public is invited. The event is free.

The host will be Vermont Public Television Community Council member, BUHS Social Studies Teacher and Castleton State College Adjunct Faculty member, Bill Holiday.
