In Dummerston...

GRANGE PICNIC: Evening Star Grange No. 154 will hold its annual picnic for all Grange members and friends, and neighbors of the Grange on Monday, July 9, at Hidden Acres Campground, Route 5 in Dummerston.

The picnic will begin at 6:30 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs, and drink provided by the Grange. Those attending are asked to bring a salad, or dessert to share.

There will be a quick meeting to hear a report about the winter fuel purchase price from Barrows. Those who work with the Grange on suppers and other events are welcome and come and enjoy the evening. The picnic will be held rain or shine.

SENIOR LUNCH: The Dummerston Community Lunch, sponsored by Senior Solutions, will be held on Wednesday, July 11, at noon in the Evening Star Grange, Dummerston Center.

The meal, prepared by Linda Hellus, will be hot dogs and homemade baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, brown bread, and a rhubarb dessert.

The suggested donation for this meal is $3 for those 60 and over with a charge of $4 for guests under that age. Take-outs will be available for pick up. Walk-ins are welcome, but any large group is asked to make reservations, call the Grange at 802-254-1138. All are welcome, whether a senior or not.

Books from the Lydia Taft Pratt Library will be available for borrowing until the next meal.

FRIENDLY MEALS SALUTES VETERANS: The

Hinsdale Friendly Meals will salute veterans of all ages at a special luncheon held at noon on Tuesday, July 10, at the Millstream Community Center. For this special tribute, the Friendly Meals is opening its doors to senior citizens (60+) and to veterans of all ages.

The Friendly Meal cookout will be served after the tribute. Cheeseburger sliders, marinated chicken legs, red potato salad, Mexican sweet pasta salad and a fresh fruit salad are on the menu. There is no charge for the meal, but donations are accepted. Reservations are needed by noon on July 9, and can be made by calling 603-336-7087.

The Friendly Bus will travel to Hinsdale Friendly Meals on July 10 with stops in Keene, and in Winchester at Sunrise Apartments, Warwick Meadows and Winchester Senior Housing. Call the Friendly Bus at 603-352-8494 by Monday, July 9, to reserve your seat.

In Newfane ...

SENIOR LUNCH: The Newfane Congregational Church will host a Senior Solutions dinner for seniors on Thursday, July 12, at noon.

The meal, prepared by Winnie Dolan, will include cheese puffs, gelatin salad, chicken wings, potato salad, baked beans, rolls and strawberry desert.

The suggested donation for this meal is $3.50 for those 60 and over with a charge of $4 for guests under that age. For more information or reservations, call 802-365-7870.

In Winchester, N.H. ...

STRAWBERRY BEAN SUPPER: The United Church of Winchester will hold its annual Strawberry Bean Supper on Saturday, July 7, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the church, located on Main Street in Winchester. The meal will be served family style.

The cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children, and $20 for up to five family members (adults with children.) The church is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 603-239-4465. There will be no advanced ticket sales.
