Brattleboro

-- Cherie Ann Christian, 36, of Turners Falls, Mass., was cited for driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop on Thursday, July 5. According to police, a vehicle driven by Christian was stopped near the Putney Road rotary just after 10 p.m. because its headlights were not on.

Christian will appear in Windham Superior Court -- Criminal Division on Aug. 28.

-- Thomas Benson, 29, of Guilford, was cited for being in possession of a regulated drug during a stop on Interstate-91, Wednesday, July 4.

According to police, at about 12:41 a.m., a 2005 VW Jetta driven by Kevin Jay was observed entering the I-91 U-turn south of Exit 3. Jay told the officer he had done so because he was having car problems. During a consent search of the vehicle, two non-prescribed narcotic pills were found in possession of the passenger, Benson.

Jay was issued a written warning. Benson will appear in court at a later date.

-- Alexander Wright, 27, was cited with domestic assault after police were called to a disturbance at a residence on Elliot Street, Wednesday, July 4. He will appear in Windham Superior Court at a later date.

-- Brattleboro Police Officers cited three men with disorderly conduct after witnessing a fight on Canal Street at about 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3. According to police, Frederick A. Crosby, 29, Johnathan C. Lavoie, 25, and Ricky B. Wideman, 19, all of Brattleboro, were

taken into custody without incident and will appear in Windham Superior Court -- Criminal Division on Aug. 21.

Dummerston

-- Justin Ockington, 34, of North Walpole, N.H., was cited for possession of marijuana and operating a vehicle with a suspended license following a traffic stop on Interstate-91 on Thursday, July 5.

According to police, a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Ockington was stopped for a lane violation. The officer identified the driver as Ockington, who "was operating the vehicle with a civilly suspended Vermont driver’s license." During the stop, the officer also observed a plastic bag containing marijuana inside the vehicle. "During a consent search," the report states, "an additional amount of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia" was found.

Ockington will appear in Windham County Superior Criminal Court on Aug. 21.

Putney

-- No injuries were reported in an accident on Rt. 5 on Thursday, July 5. According to police, a Honda Accord driven by Caroline Gelfan, 67, of Putney, was traveling southbound on Rt. 5 when it was struck by a Toyota Corolla driven by Elizabeth Christie, 69, also of Putney, traveling northbound; Christie was making a left-hand turn into the Post Office parking lot and crossed in front of Gelfan. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Vernon

-- State Police on Tuesday, July 3, responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate-91. A silver 2004 Hyundai Tiburon, driven by Ruth A. Hassard, 59, of Perkinsville, was traveling south when it struck a deer in the middle of the lane. Hassard was not injured, however the vehicle sustained significant front end damage and needed to be towed from the scene.

Westminster

-- Richard Knight III, 29, of Westminster, was cited for DUI and possession of marijuana following a traffic stop Thursday, July 5. According to police, a vehicle driven by Knight was pulled over for a defective brake light just after 10:30 p.m.; following the stop, he was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Knight will appear in a court at a later date.
