Police say both drivers had been traveling in foggy, rainy weather south on the interstate in Hartford early Saturday when they saw a large object in the road. They thought it was a dead animal. As they got closer, they saw it was a person lying in the right travel lane. Both drivers were unable to avoid colliding with the body.
Police referred to the dead man as a pedestrian. They identified him as 24-year-old Mikhail Lomakin of Norwich.
Lomakin was taken to the medical examiner's office in Burlington for an autopsy.
Police are asking if anyone saw a pedestrian on the road between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.end of story marker
