BRATTLEBORO -- A Bellows Falls man who was arrested on Nov. 7 following an investigation by the Southeastern Unit for Special Investigations was charged on Nov. 8 with lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.
If convicted of the charge, Robert O. Solomon, 52, could spend between two and 15 years in prison.
According to an affidavit filed by Windham County Sheriff’s Deputy Jessica Fellows, she was notified by a Bellows Falls police officer that an assault had occurred on a child on Nov. 1.
The alleged victim told a forensic investigator that Solomon touched her genitals.
When Solomon was interviewed by Fellows, he told the deputy that he and the victim were engaged in "a tickle fight."
Solomon was given conditions of release that included he stay away from the alleged victim. He was ordered to appear in Windham Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.
-- On Nov. 8, Vermont State Police cited Francis Wilkins, 41, of West Townshend, for operating a vehicle on Route 35 on a criminally suspended license. He was ordered to appear in court on Dec. 18.
-- On Oct. 16, Brattleboro police responded to Canal Street for a vandalism complaint. Following an investigation, Jessica Rose, 24, of Brattleboro, was cited with unlawful mischief. She was ordered to appear in court on Dec. 18.
-- On Nov. 1, Brattleboro police responded to the Super 8 Motel on Putney Road for a possible fight.
-- On Nov. 2, Eric Langman, 31, no place of residence listed, was cited for disorderly conduct after police responded to an Elliot Street bar for a report of an intoxicated man creating a disturbance. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Nov. 5, Bernard Jacobs Jr., 53, of Brattleboro, was arrested for aggravated domestic assault after police responded to a disturbance at a Canal Street residence.
-- On Nov. 7, Gregory Knapp Sr., 63, of Fair Haven, was arrested after he was stopped for speeding in a work zone on I-91. Vermont State Police learned he was driving on a suspended license. He was ordered to appear in court on Dec. 8.
-- On Nov. 7, Kevin C. Baker, 51, of Brattleboro, was taken into custody after police learned he had an active arrest warrant stemming from a charge of retail theft. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Nov. 8, Ryan J. Matthews, 30, of Brattleboro, was cited for domestic assault and unlawful restraint after police responded to a disturbance on Canal Street. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Nov. 9, Brattleboro police cited for operating a vehicle on Canal Street on a criminally suspended license. He was taken into custody and then ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- The Vermont State Police is investigating the theft of diesel fuel from vehicles and equipment located at a construction site on Dover Road. -- On Oct. 31, Abigail M. Howard, of Dover, was cited for driving with a criminally suspended license. She was ordered to appear in court on Dec. 31.
-- The Vermont State Police is investigating a burglary at a residence on North Orchard Road that occurred on or about Nov. 5. Items taken included a computer, radio, collectable crystals and liquor.

-- The Vermont State Police is investigating the theft of a chain saw from a vehicle on Coburn Hill Road that occurred sometime after 9 p.m. on Nov. 7, the chain saw is an orange Husqvarna 372 XP with a 20-inch bar. The handle is gray and has "Oregon" written on the side.

-- On Nov. 5, Vermont State Police arrested William Flanders, 21, of Westminster, on an extraditable warrant from the state of New Hampshire. He was transported to Southern State Correctional Facility and held on $15,000 bail.
-- On Nov. 6, James Lober, 43, of Westminster, was cited for aggravated domestic assault. He was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
-- On Nov. 8, Vermont State Police responded to Patch Road for the report of a single-vehicle accident. According to police, John I. Nestel, 90, of Putney, fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the road, crashing into a drainage ditch.
