ROCKINGHAM -- The northbound lane of Interstate-91 near mile marker 38 was closed for several hours early this morning as emergency crews worked at the scene of an accident between an SUV and tractor trailer.
According to police, at about 2:30 a.m. Shawn Robison, 39, of Wilmington, Del., was traveling north in a Ford Explorer, when "he entered into an extreme bank of fog" which made visibility very poor.
At about the same time, 66-year-old John P. Gibbons stopped his tractor trailer in what he believed was the break down lane as he could no longer see the road due to the fog.
Robison's SUV collided with the driver's side of the trailer just north of Exit 6 and was totaled on impact. He was transported to the Springfield emergency room for injuries to his arm and back.
I-91 has since been re-opened. The crash is still under investigation.
