Brattleboro

-- On Dec. 17, Brattleboro Police observed Claire H. Longe, 55, of Brattleboro, operating a vehicle on Canal Street. She failed to yield for a pedestrian and police conducted a motor vehicle stop. She was subsequently taken into custody without incident for operating after suspension of license. Longe was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer to this charge.

-- On Dec. 20, Brattleboro Police responded to the Circle K gas station located at 564 Canal Street for a reported theft. Further investigation revealed that a 16-year-old male from Vernon had stolen an item from the gas station. This male was cited to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge of retail theft.

-- On Dec. 20, Brattleboro Police investigated a report of suspicious circumstances. After an investigation, Nicholas Dow, 22, of Brattleboro, was arrested for violating active conditions of release.

-- On Dec. 20, Brattleboro Police arrested Darren Stilwell, 27, of Rutland, and charged him with driving while criminally suspended. Stilwell was cited to appear in the Windham County District Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer to this charge.

-- On Dec. 21, Brattleboro Police arrested Clifford Sprague, 32, of Brattleboro, and charged him with driving while criminally suspended. Sprague was cited to appear in the Windham County District Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer to this charge.

21, Brattleboro Police arrested Bernard Roy, 49, of Essex Junction, and charged him with driving while criminally suspended. Roy was cited to appear in the Windham County District Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer to this charge.

-- On Dec. 21, Brattleboro Police responded to Price Chopper to investigate a report of shoplifting. An investigation was initiated and Jessica A. Buswell, 26, of Brattleboro, was arrested for committing an act of retail theft.

-- On Dec. 23, Brattleboro Police located Evan W. Plunkett, 30, of Brattleboro, and Gina M. Taylor, 36, of Brattleboro, on Putney Road. Both Plunkett and Taylor were taken into custody without incident as they both had active warrants for their arrest. Plunkett was lodged at the Brattleboro Police Department for lack of $2,500 bail. Taylor was lodged at the Brattleboro Police Department for lack of $500 bail.

-- On Dec. 23, Brattleboro Police responded to a residence on Valgar Street to investigate a report of a family fight. Following investigation, Curtis J. Bunkley, 24, of Brattleboro, was arrested for committing two acts of domestic assault.

Dummerston

-- On Dec. 15, the Windham County Sheriff’s Department was monitoring traffic on Route 30. The deputy observed a vehicle pass by his location with no plate lights. Upon further investigation, it was learned that the three occupants, Jonathan Madieros, 21, of Bethel, Conn., Robert Braden, 20, of Bethel, Conn., and Christopher Pasqualone, 20, of Danbury, Conn., were all in possession of marijuana. All three were arrested, processed and released on citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division at a later date.

Londonderry

-- On Dec. 20, Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Route 11. Investigation revealed that Jon Baxter, 24, of Londonderry, was traveling east when a vehicle in front of him suddenly stopped. Baxter was unable to stop in time and in an attempt to avoid a collision, braked and attempted to steer around the vehicle. His vehicle entered a culvert and flipped onto the roof. He was uninjured in the crash.

Rockingham

-- On Dec. 19, a Vermont State Trooper observed a 2004 Jeep driving southbound on I-91. The trooper noticed that the vehicle was not staying in a single lane. The trooper turned on his lights to stop the vehicle but it continued south at the speed limit. The trooper activated the siren and pulled up alongside the vehicle. The trooper observed an elderly female operator who was still continuing southbound. The trooper continued to follow the vehicle with lights and siren on. The operator moved to the breakdown lane and continued south at about 50 mph. Once into Westminster, the trooper passed the jeep and pulled in front of it. The trooped slowed gradually and came to a stop. The jeep stopped as well. Investigation revealed that Ellen Hall, 78, of Chester, knew the trooper was there but was afraid to stop on the interstate. Due to her general demeanor, the trooper determined that she should not be allowed to drive further. The trooper gave her a ride to her destination and had the vehicle towed. This case will be referred to the DMV to determine Hall’s future license status.

-- On Dec. 22, Vermont State Police responded to the Rodeway Inn, located on Route 5 for a report of an attempted break-in. Investigation revealed that two vehicles -- what appeared to be a Ford Fusion with possible New Hampshire plates along with a pick-up truck -- entered the parking lot to the Rodeway Inn.

The vehicles parked in front of a room and a subject exited the car and attempted to kick in the door of the room. Both vehicles fled the scene after the motel manager ran out into the parking lot. The pick-up truck is of an unknown make, model and plates. The car appeared to be a darker model Ford Fusion with custom rims.

Townshend

-- Frank Murphy, 53, was cited for aggravated domestic assault on Wednesday, Dec. 27, after Vermont State Police responded to a call of a reported family fight at a Gibbs Lane residence at approximately 7:02 p.m.

According to police, Murphy was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility until he became sober.

Westminster

-- On Dec. 17, Vermont State Police investigated a single vehicle crash on Davidson Hill Road. Investigation revealed that Karen Screpetis, 59, of Westminster, had lost control of her pick-up truck and the vehicle slid into a ditch, landing on the driver’s side. Screpetis, who was wearing her seat belt, was uninjured in the crash. Her vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
