Two cited with drug possession in Vernon

VERNON -- Two Brattleboro residents were cited with drug possession following a traffic stop at 6:10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4.

Investigation revealed Christopher McIean, 29, the owner and operator of the vehicle, had a suspended license.

Troopers got consent to search the vehicle and found a misdemeanor amount of heroin and marijuana. Stephanie Barber, 30, a passenger in the vehicle, was cited for the possession of heroin and McIean was cited for the possession of marijuana.

Athens

-- A 49-year-old Athens woman was uninjured and able to drive away from the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Brookline Road on Monday, Feb. 4.

Vermont State Police say Judith A. Palmer was traveling westbound with her son at 6:05 p.m. when she lost control of the vehicle she was driving due to icy road conditions. The vehicle went off the road and into a ditch.

Both Palmer and her son were wearing seatbelts.

Brattleboro

-- Steven Miller, 25, of Brattleboro, was cited for driving with a criminally suspended license following a traffic stop at 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

-- Brattleboro Police responded to the Rite Aid at 499 Canal Street for a trespassing complaint on Friday, Feb. 1. Upon investigation, Jensen Lindholm, 21, of Brattleboro, was cited for retail theft.

He was ordered to appear in Windham Superior Court at a later date to answer to the charge.

-- Evan Shippee, 22, of Brattleboro, was cited for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on Sunday, Feb. 3.

He was released and ordered to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

-- Brattleboro Police responded to the Hannaford supermarket on Putney Road on Friday, Feb. 8, on a report of a retail theft.

Following an investigation, the suspect was identified as Shari L. Zavattero, 27, of Wardsboro.

She was ordered to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

-- Jason McMaster, 38, of Brattleboro, was cited with violation of a relief from an abuse order at 2:39 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8.

He is set to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

-- Mariel Carabello, 40, of Brattleboro, was cited for domestic assault at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8.

He was ordered to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

-- At 5:38 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, Brattleboro Police responded to the area of Elliot and Church streets on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in a wheelchair.

According to police, the pedestrian, Tricia Grusendorf, 44, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital to be treated. The operator of the motor vehicle involved was identified as Richard Lee, 66.

There is an active investigation into this incident.

-- Perle Nichols, 40, of Brattleboro, was cited with driving while criminally suspended.

He was ordered to appear in court at a later date to answer to the charge.

Guilford

-- Bethany Sojka, 20, of Leyden, Mass., was cited for traveling too fast for conditions following a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Vermont State Police and the Guilford Fire Department responded to Weatherhead Hollow Road at 1:42 p.m. and learned Sojka, the lone occupant, was going too fast for conditions, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a snow bank. Police say it was a clear and sunny day but the roads had snow on them from a previous storm.

Whitingham

-- A 22-year-old local man was transported to North Adams (Mass.) Regional Hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, Feb. 9.

Vermont State Police responded to an accident on Route 100 at 12:59 p.m.

Troopers determined the operator, Andrew Massari, was traveling south on Route 100 and lost control of the vehicle he was driving due to the snow and slush on the roadway. The vehicle then left the roadway and hit a small tree. Massari, according to police, was not wearing a seatbelt.
