The meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday in the Multi-purpose Room at the Halifax School for the purpose of validating the Annual Town Meeting to be held that same day.
Voters will be asked to approve Article 1, which reads "Shall the action taken at the meeting of this town held on March 5, 2013 in spite of the fact that the Halifax Town Report has not been delivered due to Post Office error, and any act or action of the municipal officers or agents pursuant thereto be readopted, ratified and confirmed."
According to an e-mail from the Halifax Selectboard, there was an error by the post office that did not deliver town reports and voters will need to validate the meeting by two-thirds vote just prior to the town meeting.
Town reports left the local post office on Tuesday, Feb. 19, and went to the Brattleboro Post office with a note on it stating the box was not to leave the dock.
"The box was put on the truck and went to White River Junction and they did not see the note and they put the town reports on the truck to New Jersey because that is where all the media mail is sent to their distribution center," stated the e-mail.
