RUTLAND - Utilities are preparing for power outages as another round of thunderstorms moves into Vermont.

Green Mountain Power says it's preparing for several days of severe weather.

Spokeswoman Dorothy Schnure says weather conditions on Tuesday night could cause significant outages.

She says high winds, soggy ground and intense lightening could bring the threat of widespread outages over the next few days as trees topple over, branches blow into lines and lightning strikes equipment.

On Sunday, an intense thunder storm and high winds knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses, mostly in the Rutland area. Green Mountain Power reported 10,000 customers had lost power.

On Tuesday afternoon, about 1,5000 customers lost power for a few minutes in the Brattleboro area due to a problem at the Dummerston substation.
