With narcissism there is no winning. If you're thinking that you can talk logic and reason into a narcissist's head, I'm here to tell you that you're wrong. You will never win! Many have tried and many have failed to change the mind of a chronic narcissist. Kayne West and Kim Kardashian are perhaps two of the biggest narcissists and they're in front of us all the time. I purposefully ignore reality television and I can't seem to escape them. If you have a Facebook account then you will eventually see their faces; Twitter, the same thing. They are everywhere. Kim is so narcissistic that she believed the world would buy her selfie book (human faith restored, no one did — the book tanked). That said, if they were both on a sinking boat and I only had time to save one, I would wonder what I was having for lunch.
But these two aren't the only ones: Paris Hilton, Madonna, Caitlyn Jenner (actually anything with the last name Jenner), Mariah Carey ... the list goes on. However, these people you can simply walk away from — if they appear on your TV you can shut it off or change the channel. These narcissists will never have the potential to run the country.
But there is one that hasn't been mentioned that could: Donald Trump, perhaps the biggest narcissist going. This guy has bought into his own rhetoric so much that he truly believes it, chapter and verse! It's quite insane to watch. Candidate Trump — this is a presidential candidate, someone who is supposed to show that he's better than we are at dealing with static while diffusing situations. He's supposed to show us the pragmatic ways he is going to keep the waters still so we feel safe, while providing the ways and means for us to live peaceful lives. He never takes responsibility for any of his actions. Time and time again he promotes violence and when it happens he finds ways to blame others. The Chicago rally last week, the one that had to be cancelled, he figured out a way to blame Bernie Sanders. Bernie, one of the most peaceful guys on the planet.
Here's what I'm saying: we're in very dangerous waters. Even a peaceful man can snap under this kind of misguided thinking. I'm not pointing a finger at all Trumpistas; I really do believe that what we're dealing with is a fringe element here. But still we know this, if people are looking to you for guidance and you provide static, it's simply not going to end well. That could mean anything, more rally riots, more racial slurs being screamed, or a lost election.
Are we really this angry? Is this nation truly this ticked off? I know things are bad and it really seems as though folks who are working 40, 50, 60 hours a week can't make ends meet and that's frustrating. But with that in mind, you have to ask what does a candidate like Trump offer, other than letting you spout off and say whatever you want to say whenever you want to say it? Because honestly, he's a one-trick pony and the only thing he brings to the table is rhetoric. Yes, he does appear to be a good business man and a great negotiator and I would completely rely on the skill set if I was making a bulk purchase on bottled water or meat. But I would never put my faith in that particular set of skills if lives were on the line.
Nonetheless, here we are and you could be scratching your head as to what to do. It's pretty simple — vote! It's the one thing that hasn't been completely taken away from us. If you support Trump, then you vote. If you don't support Trump, then you vote. But if your candidate doesn't make the cut, don't just sit at home, get out and vote. Vote like your rights depend on it ... because they do! What the hell is up with that?
