On Monday, April 18, Kathleen Murphy, Financial Advisor with VALIC, presents a discussion on retirement strategies as part of the Planning for Financial Security education series.

On Tuesday, April 19, the Brattleboro Area Interfaith Initiative presents the first annual "Brattleboro Area Unsung Hero(ine) Award" to Kathleen White, who has been serving public health needs in the Brattleboro area for the past 35 years. There will also be discussion of our efforts to have our community sign on to the Charter of Compassion, initiated by Karen Armstrong and the Dalai Lama.

On Wednesday, April 20, discover how to make fruit and beet kvass; fermented drinks that provide our bodies with numerous probiotics, give us digestive enzymes, are quick and easy to make, and more. Presented by Celeste Longacre, who focuses on the importance of fermented foods in our diets.

On Thursday, April 21, find out more about the Windham County Guardian ad Litem (GALs) Program. GALs are volunteers who speak for the best interests of a child in court proceedings. Windham County has an amazing group of GALs, but they always need more. It is a unique opportunity to serve children. Come meet some GALs and find out how and why they do this important work.

On Friday, April 22, Jerry Appell, a Dummerston resident and founder and artistic director of Rock In The Classroom, offers a songwriting workshop to help educators, lifelong learners, and home school families discover a variety of ways to use songwriting and music as learning tools for students of all ages. The event will end at 1:30 (for those who can stay for the extra time).

During April, The Gallery at the River Garden will exhibit "Young Children's Art Exhibit" — presented by the Windham Child Care Association. Children and families will enjoy experiencing the work of our community's youngest artists at the 12th annual Young Children's Art Exhibit. Early childhood educators will be displaying their student's artistic creations.
