DUMMERSTON >> The Windham County Democratic Committee and the Southeastern VT-NEA Political Educators are hosting candidate forums for the Democratic candidates for governor and lieutenant governor.
The partnership will host two separate candidate forum events — one for gubernatorial candidates, and another for candidates for lieutenant governor. Each forum will be moderated by a panel of local journalists and a local member of the VT-NEA. The organizations, in addition to the Dummerston Town Democratic Committee, will also host a statewide and local candidate social event.
"At a time when the Vermont Democratic Party is renewing its pledge to support our allies in organized labor, this partnership brings me great joy," said Windham County Democratic Committee Chair Brandon Batham. "I'm particularly proud of our local Democratic elected leaders and activists who have a long history of supporting our educators and the labor community. I am certain that local voters will benefit from our partnership as they decide whom to support for governor and lt. governor."
The Windham County Democrats' Candidate Social will be held on Monday, May 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Evening-Star Grange, 1008 East-West Rd. All Democratic candidates for governor and lt. governor, as well as Chittenden County State's Attorney TJ Donovan (the sole Democratic candidate for attorney general) have confirmed their attendance.
The Gubernatorial Candidate Forum will be held on Monday, June 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Brattleboro, 32 Linden St. Confirmed participants are former Windsor County State Senator and Google executive Matt Dunne, former Windham County State Senator and Ambassador Peter Galbraith, and former Vermont Secretary of Transportation Sue Minter; the forum will be hosted by Windham County Democratic Committee Chair Brandon Batham.
The Lieutenant Governor Candidate Forum will be held on Tuesday, June 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Bellows Falls, 42 Rockingham St. Confirmed participants are Burlington State Representative Kesha Ram and Chittenden County State Senator David Zuckerman; the forum will be hosted by Windham County State Senator Becca Balint.
