The Brattleboro Senior Center and The Brattleboro Senior Meals Program host their May Birthday Luncheon on Thursday, May 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the Gibson Aiken Center. Seniors with May Birthdays are invited to celebrate the occasion with a free special luncheon. The menu will include an appetizer table, punch, yankee pot roast with onions, smashed red potatoes, carrots, honor rolls, and cake and ice cream for dessert. All are invited to attend. Those with birthdays in the month of May are invited to celebrate the occasion by sitting at the birthday table and waiving their donation for the day. They may invite one guest to sit with them; however, that guest is encouraged to make the regular donation. The suggested donation for seniors 60 years of age and over is $4. Entertainment will be provided. Make reservations by calling 257-1236. Please state whether you are celebrating a birthday and how many spots you wish to reserve at the birthday table.
The Brattleboro Senior Center will be offering a new discussion group beginning on Monday, May 23, at 12:45 p.m. Jessy Cudworth will facilitate conversations related to various senior related issues. You can bring concerns and questions, share an experience, or just sit and listen. Everyone is welcome to join.
The Brattleboro Senior Center hosts Senior Windham Walkers. Join for a series of hiking/walking adventures. On Friday, May 27, there will be a walk/hike the trail to the top of Little Black Mountain in Dummerston. Enjoy scenic views and find peace and quiet in the woods. Meet at the Senior Center, 207 Main St., at 10:30 a.m. and carpool to each location. This hike is moderately difficult. Please wear sturdy walking shoes, dress appropriately (layers are recommended) and wear bug spray. Bring a non-breakable, easy-to-carry water bottle.
The Brattleboro Senior Center and staff from The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Dept. and Brooks Memorial Library will be offering a Cell Phone/Tablet Workshop on Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at the Gibson Aiken Center. Do you have a cell phone or tablet and need help figuring it out? Bring in your device and receive one-on-one assistance.
The Brattleboro Senior Center is hosting a senior tennis program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Living Memorial Park. The courts are located up the hill next to the Skating Rink.
