BELLOWS FALLS >> The Bellows Falls Promise Community will be holding a community forum to discuss what it takes to make a difference in the lives of young children in Bellows Falls on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 5:30 p.m. at Central Elementary School.
This forum is the result the work taken on by the Promise Community over the past year, looking at data about the village and hosting community cafés to speak directly with families. The community forum will be moving past the conversations and into developing plans and taking action. The lively event will involve active discussion with other community members about what Bellows Falls needs to be an amazing place for all families so that all of the children have every opportunity to thrive. The forum is open to all community members. Bring your voice, bring your ideas, and be a part of the solution to empower families so that every child has the opportunity to thrive. Light refreshments and quality childcare will be provided.
Bellows Falls was selected as one of seven Vermont Promise Communities in 2015. The Promise Community Initiative is one leg of the Early Learning Challenge Race to the Top grant working with rural Vermont Communities to realize the promise of every child in a community. The project takes a "whole systems" approach by focusing on the entire community and working across multiple sectors so that the entire community has a voice in planning to turn the curve for all children, raising the bar, and thereby improving the lives of the most vulnerable Vermonters.
This project is part of a four-year grant to help build a high-quality and accessible early childhood system so that all young children in Vermont will be ready to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. The grant rapidly advances Vermont's larger reform agenda by serving as a "jumpstart" to Vermont's Early Childhood Action Plan. Grant implementation is led by the Governor's Office in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Education, the Vermont Department for Children and Families, the Vermont Department of Health, and Springfield Building Bright Futures.
