BRATTLEBORO >> The Davenport Awards Dinner, held election year in Brattleboro, honors local Democrats, activists, and leaders and celebrates the community's shared Democratic values. It also serves as the committee's primary fundraiser during election years — funds raised from the evening will go to support the Windham County Democratic Committee in Election 2016 and beyond. This year, the Windham County Democratic Committee is honoring three locals: State Representative Ann Manwaring of Wilmington (Legislator of the Year), Alex Beck of Brattleboro (Community Leader of the Year), and Anne Rider of Guilford (Ron Squires Award).
"This year's award recipients are the golden standard for community service and Democratic values," said Windham County Democratic Committee Chair Brandon Batham. "Ann, Alex, and Anne continue to set a high bar for public service, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize their hard work for Windham County and our State."
The Windham County Democrats' Davenport Awards dinner will be held on Friday, October 14th, at the Winston Prouty Center for Child Development, located in Vermont Hall of the former Austine Campus (209 Austine Dr.). Doors will open at 6 p.m., with a buffet-style dinner — catered by Brattleboro Rep. Tristan Toleno and Entera Catering — served at 6:30 p.m.
The event program will begin at 7 p.m., and will feature Governor Peter Shumlin, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, Congressman Peter Welch, Secretary of State Jim Condos, Treasurer Beth Pearce, State Senator and Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, and Chittenden County State's Attorney and Democratic nominee for Attorney General TJ Donovan.
Individual tickets are $40, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Tickets can be reserved by e-mailing email@example.com.
