SAXTONS RIVER - Several area Vermont Academy students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) in a ceremony held May 18 on the Saxtons River campus.

Science department chair Donna Parkhurst-Ascher and English department chair Lorna Schilling, Vermont Academy’s NHS sponsors, welcomed senior Jordan Wright (Dummerston), juniors Salty Pennington-Fitzgerald (Putney), Eamon O’Keefe (Walpole), and Mike Reilly (West Chesterfield), and sophomores Molly Brennan (Saxtons River) and Rachel Therrien (Alstead) into the society.

The National Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization recognizing outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. NHS is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). Vermont Academy’s NHS chapter was formed in 2003.
