BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Union High School Music Department will present a Fall Concert on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

No admission will be charged and the public is welcome.

Opening the concert will be the BUHS Jazz Workshop under the direction of Jamie MacDonald. They will perform "Billie’s Bounce" by Charlie Parker and "A Call For All Demons" by Sun Ra.

The Madrigals will continue with a program that will include Deke Sharon’s arrangements of "Autumn Leaves" and "Good Old A Cappella," "Brothers" by Carl Steubing, the madrigal "All Ye Who Music Love" by Baldessare Donato and "O Schone Nacht" by Johannes Brahms. The Madrigals will conclude their set with Gary Fry’s "Reach for the Stars."

Next, the Jazz Band will perform four selections, including John LaBarbera’s "Dancing Men," Mike Tomaro’s "Rent Party," Duke Ellington’s "It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)" and Bobby Timmons’ "Dat Dere."

The 93-voice Chorus takes the stage next to perform "Let Everything that Hath Breath" by Jeffrey Ames, "If Love Should Count You Worthy" by James Mulholland (featuring senior Molly Rice on French horn) and "The Stars are with the Voyagers" by Eleanor Daley . The chorus will close with John Rutter’s rendition of "Down by the Riverside.

The Band concludes the concert with Frank Ticheli’s homage to the victims and survivors of the Columbine High School shootings titled "An American Elegy." Their program will also include "Rhythm Stand" by Jennifer Higdon and "The Billboard March" by John Klohr.

Vocal ensembles are directed by Patty Meyer and the band and jazz band are led by Steve Rice and Keene State College intern Chris Robinson. The Chorus and Madrigals will be accompanied by Hugh Keelan and Steve Rice.
