BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Union High School Music Department will present the popular musical "Gypsy" on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 14-16 in the BUHS Auditorium.
The Thursday performance will begin at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $6 for all seats at Thursday’s show, $10 for all seats at Friday’s and Saturday’s shows. Senior citizens’ tickets will be $6 for all performances. Tickets will be available in the front office of the high school on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or at the door. The show is directed by Robert Kramsky (stage director), Stephen Rice (music co-director), Anthony Speranza (music co-director) and Mitch Davis (producer). The staff also includes Mary Linney as costumer, Kate Maisner as stage manager, Melanie Zinn as choreographer and Seth Richardson on sound.
"Gypsy" opened at the Broadway Theatre in New York City on May 21, 1959 and ran for 702 performances. That production was directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and starred Ethel Merman as Rose. This extremely successful show has been revived on Broadway no fewer than four times.
