CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS: The Rockingham Library will be closed today and Wednesday, Feb. 26 and 27, to accommodate ongoing renovations to the building. There will not be fines or late fees during the closure, and a curbside bookdrop is available for library materials.

Library users may submit reference questions, request materials, and access the catalog through the Library’s website. Librarians will also be available to answer questions through the Library’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instant Messenger accounts. Info: rockinghamlibrary.org.

In Brattleboro...

DEBT DOCUMENTARY: The Centre Congregational Church Peace and Justice Committee will show the documentary film "In Debt We Trust" on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at noon. The film addresses the corporate culture promoting loans and credit cards as well as other cultural and economic factors promoting high levels of debt in the American economy.

The film and discussion will follow a potluck in the parlor of Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St. Two kinds of soup and beverages will be provided. Bring a sandwich or any accompaniment of your choice. The program will conclude about 3 p.m.

On Tuesday, a screening and panel discussion of Vermont Public Television Community Cinema’s "Half the Sky" documentary will be held. After a 42-minute screening of one section of the film covering forced intergenerational prostitution in India a panel discussion will follow.

Then on Wednesday, Post Oil Food and Brooks Memorial Library will offer a program of "Growing a Community of Gardeners." Beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a showing of the film, "Ingredients."

A feature-length documentary, "Ingredients" illustrates how people around the country are working to revitalize that connection.

Post Oil Solutions will lead a discussion on the importance of a community-based food system, where people assume greater responsibility for feeding themselves.

The snowdate is Monday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m.

YOUTH ICE FISHING DAY: Sportsmen Inc., a local hunting, fishing, shooting club in Guilford, will hold its annual youth ice fishing day on Saturday, March 2. The club members will be on the ice with equipment, minnows and holes drilled. This will be a fun time and a chance to learn to ice fish. The event is free and there will be hot cocoa for participants.

The event will take place in Brattleboro at Hunt’s Meadow setback which is located on Route 142, just south of the Morningside Commons traffic light. For further information, call Lee at 802-258-4709. Licenses are not required for children. Dress warmly and wear boots.

In Dummerston...

SENIOR LUNCHEON: The Evening Star Grange and Senior Solutions Dummerston Senior Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, beginning at noon. Chefs Sallie May and Larry Lynch Jr. will serve a meal including (but not limited to) meat lasagna, vegetable lasagna, green salad, garlic bread and a lemon pudding/shortbread dessert. A sugar-free alternative dessert will also be available.

The cost of the meal is $3 for those over 60 and $4 for the young folks. Everyone is welcome. No reservations are necessary, but large (over 6) groups are asked to call so plans for space and food can be made. Take-outs are available by calling 802-254-1138 on Wednesday. Books will be available from Lydia Taft Pratt Library.

SENIOR LUNCH: The Guilford Golden Agers Senior Lunch, sponsored by Senior Solutions, will take place at noon on Friday, March 1, at the Guilford Community Church.

The menu will include spaghetti and meatballs, tossed salad and bread, with apple crisp with ice cream for dessert. A suggested donation of $3 for seniors and $4 for others is asked.

Books will be available on loan from the Guilford Free Library. Blood pressures will be taken courtesy of Guilford Cares.

NATURE PLAY: Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center is offering children an opportunity to explore the world around them through games, activities and exploration in the fields and woods.

The children will explore this time of rejuvenation for plants and animals, uncover what has survived in the soil, and play games to mimic the new growth.
