BRATTLEBORO -- Barnaby’s, 95 Main St., presents a night of experimental music on Monday, May 6, at 8 p.m., featuring the Happy Jawbone Family Band of Brattleboro, Bird Names (recent Brattleboro transplants) and Toupee and Potions from Chicago. Cover is $3.

The Happy Jawbone Family Band is a bunch of local odd-ball popsters, who have made some serious national waves, getting glowing coverage in Pitchfork Media and getting signed to Brooklyn-based Mexican Summer Records. This is the band’s first local show in months. Visit

Bird Names is a long-running psychedelic pop band which recently moved to Brattleboro from Athens, Ga., and Chicago and is about to drop a new full-length album. This show marks the debut of a new heavy shredding live band. Visit

Joining the bill from Chicago is Toupee, a female-fronted space rock group. They can bring the heavy rumble but also some chill melodic stuff. Visit

Opening the show, also from Chicago is Potions, which offers freaky synthesizer atmospheres to zone way out to. Visit
