BRATTLEBORO -- All children, including children who are read to, are invited to participate in Dig into Reading, this year’s summer reading program which begins Monday, June 25, and ends Saturday, Aug. 4.
The Children’s Room at Brooks Memorial Library is offering three reading programs for children up to 12 years old, with registration running through, Saturday June 22.
Children ages 4 to 9 years old can sign up for Dig into Reading, where children set their own reading goal of how many books they can read during the six-week program. Participants will receive a reading record, a book bag and bookmark at registration, and children who meet their summer reading goal will receive a coupon for a free small pizza from Domino’s Pizza of Brattleboro.
Children ages 10 to 12 can join our Beneath the Surface program, where they set their own goal of how many hours they will read in six weeks. Children who complete weekly tasks by locating information both in the library and on the Children’s Room website will be entered into the weekly drawings. Everyone who completes all six tasks will be entered into the grand prize drawing.
For the little ones, there is Dig into Reading Jr., where children 3 years old and under and their parents complete 16 early literacy activities listed on the reading record. Participants will receive a book bag, coloring page, stickers, bookmark and board book.
The library’s Bellville Realty’s Monday Movie Matinee series is back for an eighth year.
This program is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency, through the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Vermont Department of Libraries.
