WILMINGTON -- Seven-time Grammy Award-nominee Joan Osborne will perform at the Hermitage Inn on Saturday as a benefit for The Wilmington Fund. Gates open at 8 p.m., and Colby Dix opens.

Osborne is best known for her multiplatinum, soulful rock hit "One of Us." She released an album of classic blues and R&B covers last year titled "Bring It On Home."

"We're excited to host our first major fundraising event in the Deerfield Valley to continue with the express purpose of rebuilding and contributing economic development to the area," said Daniel Kilmurray, founder and president of The Wilmington Fund.

The Wilmington Fund was established after Tropical Storm Irene almost two years ago which caused the loss of 40 businesses and all municipal services in Wilmington. At one point, the river that flows right behind Wilmington's main crossroads rose 40 feet above normal. Many jobs were lost and properties damaged, with a ripple effect on the economy that continues today.

"The village has great historical significance; it's on the National Register of Historic Places and it has wonderful architecture, great people and it's the home of close to 200 jobs many of which have yet to be replaced since Irene," Kilmurray said.

The fund aims to support Wilmington's recovery to promote commerce and business activity using grants, low-interest loans, real estate ownership, partnerships and other investment opportunities.

The $100 ticket price for the Joan Osborne concert also includes free beer and wine.
