OLD-FASHIONED CHICKEN PIE: The Evening Star Grange will hold an old-fashioned chicken pie supper on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grange hall in Dummerston Center.
The menu will include old-fashioned chicken pie with homemade biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, mashed winter squash, scalloped onions, corn pudding, with apple crisp and other apple desserts. COMMUNITY PIG ROAST: The parents and teachers on the Floodbrook School Student Activities Committee will hold its 9th Annual Community Pig Roast. There will be hot pulled pork sandwich and iced tea. This fundraising event will be held at the West River Farmers' Market in Londonderry on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the junction of Routes 100 and 11. This is a one day only rain or shine activity for all ages.
This is an entirely volunteer organized and operated event to benefit the students of Floodbrook School. All the money raised goes to the fund for local, national and international field trips.
PULLED PORK DINNER: The Athens Historic Preservation Society will be hosting an old-fashioned Pulled Pork Dinner on Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at 1 p.m., on the lawn of the Athens Brick Meeting House. The cost will be $15 per person, $7 for children under 12. The meal will include coleslaw, baked beans, beverages and a dessert buffet table.
This event is being sponsored by the Athens Historic Preservation Society as part of an effort to raise awareness and community support for efforts to preserve and restore this gem of a historic building. The Meeting House is historically significant to this region, particularly for the thirteen towns which formed a group for religious purposes including Athens, Grafton, Rockingham, Townshend, Londonderry, Weston, Chester, Acton, Springfield, Landgrove, Windham, Putney and Mt. Holly.

SENIOR LUNCH: The Guilford Golden Agers Senior Lunch, sponsored by Senior Solutions, will be held Friday. Sept. 20, at the Guilford Community Church. The menu will include zesty onion burgers, baby carrots, chips and pickles, with chocolate banana split cupcakes for dessert.
A suggested donation of $3 for seniors and $5 for others is asked. Books will be available on loan from the Guilford Free Library. Blood pressures will be taken courtesy of Guilford Cares. A flu clinic will be held on Oct. 18.
