CONCORD, N.H. -- The Hinsdale boys defeated Concord Christian on Friday, 2-1. "Our younger guys really stepped up," said Pacer coach Steve Fecto. "It was an all-around great effort."
With 36 minutes gone in the first, Richie Webster found the back of the net off a Josh Webster assist. The hosts tied it at the break, 1-1.
Webster also had the team's second goal after a Matt Boggio feed, in the second half.
The 2-2 Hinsdale team plays at Leland & Gray today at 4 p.m.
The Pacer girls fell to Concord Christian, 1-0, the same day. Allison Scott and Skylar Bonnette provided excellent defensive play for Hinsdale, said the team's coach Drew Arsenault, whose team drops to 0-5. Scott had seven saves in goal for Hinsdale.
The Pacers host Woodsville on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Brattleboro 3, Burr & Burton 1
BRATTLEBORO -- Brennen Zolnoski scored with an assist from Robyn Avery, Jack Maples put away the team's second goal off a Miles Goldenbird pass, and Conner-Elliot Knaggs scored the Colonels' game-winner late in the second, to give Brattleboro the win on Friday.
"We're playing better defensively," said Colonel coach Paul Sather. "It was a great game."
Conde Reid tied it up for the Bulldogs near the break.
The 3-1-1 Colonels play at MAU on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Burr & Burton 2, Brattleboro 1
BRATTLEBORO -- The Bulldogs beat the Colonels on Friday.
With the Colonels ahead after Libby Annis scored, BBA got their first goal with 15 minutes left in regulation. BBA then got the go-ahead goal in OT.
The Colonels play at St. Johnsbury today at 5 p.m.
ARLINGTON -- At Friday's cross country meet, the Stratton girls took top honors, the Terriers' Willie Moore took gold, and the Colonels boys ran some of the best times of their season.
The Bellows Falls team saw Moore cross the line first with a time of 16:47. Tim Jones (18:14), and Jonah Bolotin (19:23) also finished strong for the Terrier boys. Other BF finishers include Lucy Lawlor (25:21) and Tess Kinney (29:09).
For the Colonels, Ryan Gilligan had another strong showing placing in the top 10 with a time of 18:15. "The boys team is continuing to show big improvement and is narrowing the gap on the teams ahead of them," said Brattleboro coach John Dimick.
Fall Mt. took gold with 55 points total, BF came in fourth (79), and Brattleboro rounded out the scoring.
Additional Brattleboro individual results include Tyler Clement (19:29), Jon Burdo (19:45) and Dan Burdo (20:13).
Becca Freeman out kicked teammate Nevada Powers to lead the girls team to a fine third place finish. Catey Yost ran her best race of the year, as did Eve Pomazi and Gwen Harris.
5K Race Fun Run Walk to be held at NewBrook Elementary
