ARLINGTON -- The Twin Valley boys soccer team won for the sixth time in as many games and took the 5th annual John Werner Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Springfield on Friday night.
"Springfield had been our nemesis in this tournament. We had always been the runnerup to them before," said Wildcats coach Buddy Hayford. "We beat a good squad."
Dal Nesbitt, Colin Lozito and Troy Felisko did the scoring for the champs in the finale. Nick Nilsen and Felisko were each credited with an assist.
"This group was just determined to win it. Right out of the gate, they had the moxie," added Hayford.
Lozito was named the tournament MVP. Dal Nesbitt had a team-high four goals in the two contests, and goalie Sam Molner picked up his sixth shutout.
Jeremy Hunt, Oscar Smith, Dylan Johnson, Eli Park and Cade Nesbitt all played well in the back, according to the Twin Valley coach.
The 6-0 Wildcats will play at Fair Haven today at 4:30 p.m.
