WESTMINSTER -- In its third year as a combination, the Bellows-Falls Hartford wrestling team will debut today at the annual ConVal, N.H. High School Tournament. Wrestling is expected to get started at 9:30 am.

Sophomores on the team are John Harris and Jahleel Denson. Harris will be wrestling in the heavyweight class and Denson will be wrestling at the 220 pound class. The freshmen are Bryce Smith (113), Mo Stetner (113), Cameron Viens (120), Sawyer Reis (120), Brendan Kendall (126), Brady Illingworth (160), Kevin Goselin (160), D.J. "With good numbers, having many experienced wrestlers, and a great support coaching staff, things have never looked so good. The wrestlers are working hard every night to get prepared for the season," stated coach Claude Weyant.

PVA Hockey

Pleasant Valley Hockey Association (PVA) started the winter hockey season on Nov. 16 with all 5 teams playing. Getting on the ice later than many of their opponents meant for a slow start for the teams, but now into it’s fourth week of competition, the teams are coming together, scoring goals and winning games.

Last week, Squirt Black (ages 9 &10) played at home at Vermont Academy vs. Lyndon. Final score was PVA 3, Lyndon 2. PVA goals were scored by Isabel Stack, Alexander Hrabchak, and Cameron Harriman, with assists by Riley Ward, Isabel Stack and Ryan Schadler. The Peewees did not fair as well against the Central Vermont team in Montpelier, with a final score of PVA 2, CVSA 10. PVA goals were scored by Dylan Wilkinson and Sydnie Rogers, with assists by McGregor Vancor and Sydnie Rogers.

The Midgets (ages (15-18) played at Saratoga, N.Y. and lost 0-6. The Squirt Black squad was back on the ice the following day at Union Arena in Woodstock vs. Woodstock. Final score was a tie, 2-2, with PVA Goals by Brayden Ring and Cameron Harriman and assists by Alexander Hrabchak.

The Peewees lost to Brattleboro, 9-1, with the only goal scored by Anthony Steele, assisted by Sydnie Rogers. Peewees also faced Woodstock on Sunday and fell 9-1 to that team. The only goal was scored by McGregor Vancor.

The Bantams had a close game at home vs. Lyndon. Lyndon won, 3-2. Finally, the Midgets faced Saratoga again and fell to them 6-1.

The Bruins Alumni story that ran in Wednesday’s Reformer stated that Guilford St. Extention will be closed during Sunday’s Bruins-Greyhawks game. This information is incorrect. The street will be closed to parking along the road, but will remain open to through traffic due to the upcoming weather concerns.
