PROCTOR -- Dal Nesbitt buried two free throws with 1.7 seconds left to give the Twin Valley boys basketball team a thrilling 60-58 victory over Rochester in the first round of the Bob Abrahamson Tournament.
Nesbitt paced the 1-0 Wildcats with 14 points. Sam Molner (9 rebounds) and Colin Lozito each followed with 13 points, while Cade Nesbitt (6 steals) and Eli Park anchored the defense.
Twin Valley will face Proctor in the championship game.
Brattleboro 53, Mill River 46
BRATTLEBORO -- Abbie Lesure scored 14 points to lead the Colonels to victory in Saturday’s opener.
"It was very encouraging for this early. "We had a good crowd which was inspiring," said BUHS coach Paul Freed.
Kayla Savage chipped in with 11 points for the purple and white. Maddie Derosia added nine points and six steals, and Taylor Bird finished with eight points.
" We had good, balanced scoring. We did a good job of sharing the sugar, as we had 20 baskets in the game and 14 assists," noted Freed.
Hinsdale 51, Monadnock 20
Bridget Bourne finished with 16 points for the 3-0 Pacers. Skylar Bonnette followed with 14 points and Allison Scott added 11. Hinsdale will play in the Keene Tournament on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
