KEENE, N.H. -- The Greater Keene Men’s Softball League will be having a binder night meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m., at the Keene Recreation Center on Washington Street. This is for teams to register their intent to have a team and to get the roster paperwork to fill out.

The binder fee is $100 to reserve a team for the 2014 season. Go to the meeting to discuss the changes made, sign up a team, or if you are a new player and would just like to find a team to play on in the 2014 season.

There are always teams that are looking for new players each year. You can go to or visit the league on Facebook as well. You can also join the "free agent" list to find a team to join on the website. If you can’t make it, contact one of the board members on the website to make other arrangements.

For the first time, the league is adding a wooden bat tournament in June and Keene will once again be the home for all of the men’s modified state tournaments.

Opening night is Friday, April 18.

Out of town teams are welcome and encouraged to sign up as well.

The league is known as the modified softball capital of New England. There are three parks at the field for kids to play on, a snack bar and even an ice cream truck that passes through. It’s a competitive league, but still a great family atmosphere for all of those involved.
