WILMINGTON -- Colin Lozito scored a team-high 25 points and reached the 1,000-point milestone for his career as the No. 1 Twin Valley boys basketball team trampled 16th-seeded Websterville Baptist, 72-29, in Tuesday night’s playdown game.
Lozito also had four assists and five steals for the 20-1 Wildcats. Dal Nesbitt added 15 points, nine boards, five dimes and three steals. Sam Molner (7 points, 5 rebounds) and DJ Lazelle (6 points, 7 rebounds) also chipped in.
Twin Valley will host a quarterfinal on Friday night at 7, versus the winner of Wednesday night’s Mid Vermont Christian-Twinfield game.
All-Star Hockey Classic
ESSEX -- Brattleboro captains Madison Doucette and Alex Fellows have been selected to participate in the Women’s Essex Rotary All-Star Hockey Classic. The game will be held at the Essex rink on Saturday, March 15.
Doucette and Fellows were nominated by their coaches and placed on a ballot. All coaches in the Lake Division had an opportunity to cast votes in favor for or in opposition of each nominee.
Doucette, a four-year varsity player, led the Colonels in scoring and total points. Fellows stopped 651 of the 730 shots that she faced and earned two shutouts.
PUTNEY -- West Hill Shop and Green Mountain Orchards invite you to a free community-wide cross country ski day at Green Mountain Orchards, Sunday, March 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thanks to The Putney School groomers, you can enjoy Nordic skiing through the apple orchard on groomed trails.
Free XC ski rentals are available from 10 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., but they must be reserved in advance. An instructor will be available for a one 30-minute lesson for first-timers.
3 on 3 Tournament
BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary Club’s 18th annual "Nothin’ But Net" 3 on 3 basketball tournament for the entire community will be held on Saturday, March 15, at Brattleboro Union High School. The "Nothin’ But Net" Tournament is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for the entire community. The net proceeds will benefit the Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Fund.
Teams will compete in a double-elimination format in divisions for adult men and women, middle school and high school boys and girls. Entry fees are $50 per adult team and $40 per student team. There will also be a 3-point contest for men and women and a free throw contest. Both are open to the public as well.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7:15 at the American Legion Post 5. More than 40 members of the club work toward improving the community through business and civic partnerships that benefit area programs serving a variety of charitable causes. The public is always welcome.
BRATTLEBORO -- Another season of Pop Warner football is fast approaching. For those that do not know, there is a board change-over happening for the upcoming 2014 season. In order for the 2014 season to succeed, volunteers are needed to be on the executive board. Positions needed to be filled include president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, football director and league representative.
