'Under the Sea' at Camp Apex, Aug. 11 - 22

Campers will explore sea animals, plants, water currents and more. They will learn about the water cycle and its significance to our planet. In addition, every day campers swim in a solar-heated pool, play games and sports, do archery, use the tube slide (ages 8+), go on hikes and play in the stream. Fees are $330 for Y Facility Members and $350 for non members. Children need to learn to play and enjoy the outdoors. Camp Apex has been doing that for 50 years.

Y Sports Camp Schedule, Aug. 11-15

Enjoy this half-day camp (9 a.m. to noon) with a focus on Olympic Games. Aug. 18 - 22 is a full-day Soccer Camp at Camp Apex. Both camps are for boys and girls, ages 6-14. Camp fees are Half Day for $60 for Y members and $80 for non members. Soccer Camp fees are $165 for Y members and $185 for non-members.

Gymnastics Camp, Aug. 11 - 22

Camp Allen is the Y's academic & P.E. camp located at the YMCA. The theme for Aug. 11 - 15 is "1980s Flashback" and Aug. 18 - 22 is "Franklin County Week". The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with early and late care available. The children also go on walking field trips to area parks and swim twice per week in the Y's heated pool. a.m. to 1 p.m.) or full day (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The campers work on all the gymnastic equipment you will see in the Olympics, floor ex, beam, vault and uneven bars. Plus the campers do an art & craft project, work out in the Kid-Fit Center, and have a daily rec swim. Camp fees are $165 for Y members and $195 for non members.

Summer Swim Classes, Aug. 11 - 15

Aug. 11-15 the YMCA will be offering a 5-day session for children ages 3 to 12. Three to 5 yr. olds can enroll in Skippers classes and children ages 6 to 12 can register for Beginner I and Beginner II lessons (Polliwog/Guppy I). The fees for the five lessons are $25 for Y members and $30 for Program Associates.

Camp Financial Aid is still available

Due to the successful 2008 Y-Kids to Camp Golf Tournament there is still a limited amount of financial aid available for all Y camps. Financial aid can cover up to 80% of the camp fee. There is an application to fill out and proof of household income is required. Call 773-3646, x 0 for more info.
