GRAFTON >> Take charge of your health, your security, and perhaps even your longevity at the Healthy Aging Conference, presented by the staff at Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital and other wellness professionals.
The conference will be held Nov. 15 and 16 at the Grafton Inn in Grafton. Tuesday's events will be held all day, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday events end by noon.
"We are very excited to have assembled such a well-rounded and exceptional group of presenters and teachers," said Grace Cottage Director of Rehabilitation and Wellness Crystal Mansfield. "Our goal is to have participants leave feeling energized, with new knowledge and healthy living strategies."
Speakers will include Grace Cottage Family Health's newest medical provider, Dr. Jesper Brickley, on the topic "Feeling Good Never Grows Old."
Other speakers include investment advisor Mike Mandracchia of The Richards Group, on "Financial Refresher: Strategies, Planning, Durable Power of Attorney, Goals," and AARP's Elliott Greenblott on "Fraud Alert Overview." Dr. Robert Backus will present the keynote address, "Staging a Graceful Exit."
Other presentations will provide information about mental health, falls prevention, housing options, healthy eating, and medications management.
In addition to these presentations, attendees may participate in individual massage therapy, Reiki, and Zero Balancing sessions, and/or in group Yoga and Tai Chi classes. All of these options are included with the registration fee.
The cost for the two-day event is $225 ($250 after Sept. 15) for individuals, and $360 for couples ($400 after Sept. 15). For Tuesday only, the cost is $175.50 ($195 after Sept. 15).

GCH hosts free weight loss group
TOWNSHEND >> Grace Cottage is offering a free 12-week support group called "Overcoming Addictive Food Behavior," starting Wednesday, Aug. 24.
The course follows the program in the best-selling "Love Hunger Weight-Loss Workbook." This multi-faceted approach has helped countless people to achieve lasting weight loss and better health. Let the next success story be yours!
The group will be facilitated by Grace Cottage Behavioral Health Specialist Caroline Chase and Grace Cottage Health Coach Liz Harrison. It meets weekly Aug. 24 to Nov. 9, 1 to 2:30 p.m., in the Grace Cottage Community Wellness Center, 133 Grafton Road.

Free food at Grace Cottage
TOWNSHEND >> Grace Cottage Hospital is hosting the Vermont Foodbank's free food distribution program the fourth Thursday of every month for those in need.
Fresh and frozen food items are available and may include potatoes, carrots, squash, apples, and more. Participants are asked to take only what they need for their own household and to bring reusable shopping bags or boxes.
The event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 25 at 1:30 p.m., in the Grace Cottage Hospital Ambulance Garage, 185 Grafton Rd. For more information, call 365-3752.
