MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermonters and visitors who don't have fishing licenses are going to be able to drop a line into the state's rivers and streams for a day without a license.

The 2012 fishing day is set for this coming Saturday.

As part of the day's activities, there is going to be fishing festival at the Ed Weed Fish Culture Station in Grand Isle. The Grand Isle Fishing Festival is designed for young anglers.

The free event will include basic fishing instruction and give kids the chance to catch big trout in a pond next to the hatchery.

But during the day, fishing will be free in all of Vermont's 284 lakes and over 7,000 miles of streams.
