SOUTH BURLINGTON (AP) - Vermont's U.S. Rep. Peter Welch says he has a new proposal to help small businesses recover from disasters.
Welch says he saw the need for the new federal disaster relief program he is developing after meeting with small business owners affected by Tropical Storm Irene.
Welch, a Democrat, is planning to outline his proposal Monday at a news conference at the Burlington International Airport.
He will be joined by a number of small business owners, including Skip Hoblin, the owner of Snowfire Auto in Duxbury, which was damaged by Irene.
