Brattleboro

-- Police said a 25-year-old Brattleboro man was arrested on July 17 after he allegedly inappropriately touched a woman while inside her home.

During the investigation, Levy N. Pierce was cited for lewd and lascivious conduct and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on Aug. 28, to answer the charge.

-- Johanna L. Lalama, 35, of Brattleboro, was arrested on July 13, at about 12:11 p.m., after she allegedly violated her abuse prevention order.

She was cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer the charge.

-- A 46-year-old Brattleboro man was arrested for criminal contempt and violation of his conditions of release.

Police say Scott Haselton was found under the Elm Street Bridge after they were investigating a possible assault on July 18.

Haselton was cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on July 31 to answer the charges.

-- On July 14, Joshua D. Hartwell, 25, of Brattleboro, was arrested by the Brattleboro Police Department for being a fugitive from justice.

Grafton

-- On July 19, members of the Vermont State Police responded to a single motor vehicle crash along Cambridgeport Road.

According to Trooper Jonathan Graham, 20-year-old Miranda McGahan, of Athens, failed to negotiate the curve of the dirt road and slid off the road crashing into some

trees.

The vehicle was towed out by a neighbor with a tractor and was driven from the scene.

Graham said no criminal charges are pending.

Rockingham

-- Police are asking anyone who finds suspicious packages, explosives or any other dangerous materials to leave them where they are and call 911.

On July 15, a concerned citizen brought what they believed to be two "live" grenades to the lobby of the Vermont State Police Rockingham Barracks.

Both grenades turned out to be "training of dummy grenades," wrote Trooper Eric Vitali, but the situation could be very dangerous if they hadn’t been.

-- A New Hampshire teen and a Vermont woman were both involved in a motor vehicle crash along Route 103 in Rockingham on July 15, police said.

Vermont State Police Trooper Paul Dean stated that at about 9:55 p.m., James Harvard, 19, of Hanover, N.H., was driving along Route 103 when he struck the car in front of him after it stopped and he couldn’t because he was allegedly driving too close.

The other driver, 60-year-old Susan Hickey, of Windsor, had minor damage to her 2011 Toyota Camry.

Neither driver suffered any injuries and Dean stated that Harvard was issued a warning for following to close.

Saxtons River

-- Members of the Vermont State Police are looking for the owner of a purple Schwinn 21-gear mountain bike that was found along Pleasant Valley Road on July 19.

The bike has a sticker on the frame that indicates that it was purchased at Specialized Sports in Putney. To claim the bike, contact Senior Trooper McLeod at 802-875-2112.

Westminster

-- A Bellows Falls teen was cited for leaving the scene of an accident with injury after he crashed his vehicle into the side of a hill.

Emery Wainwright, 18, was allegedly driving too fast along a corner of Henwood Hill Road on July 12, just before midnight when he lost control of the vehicle.

Both Wainwright and his female passenger, weren’t wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and each struck the windshield suffering facial and head abrasions.

The woman was transported to Springfield Hospital to be treated for facial and head lacerations while Wainwright fled the scene.

He later turned himself in police after talking with probation officer.

-- On July 20, Vermont State Police received a call of a motor vehicle accident along Route 5. The caller stated the driver left the scene in another vehicle at about 2:25 a.m.

When troopers arrived they found a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, registered to 33-year-old Jeffrey Bazin, of Westminster.

The car had crashed into one of the guard rails. It and that vehicle were both "destroyed," according to Trooper Jonathan Graham.

Later that day when a trooper located Bazin, who said he fell asleep and crashed the vehicle and because he didn’t have insurance, left the scene.

Bazin was issued a ticket for the insurance violation and cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer the charge of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

Windham

-- A 31-year-old woman was arrested for retail theft on July 18.

According to the Vermont State Police, Sarah Chase was transported to the Springfield Emergency Room for intoxication at about 10:30 p.m., following her arrest, and was later transported to Southern State Correctional Facility.

Chase was cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date to answer the charge.
