Moore fell short behind incumbents Carolyn Partridge and Matthew Trieber in the Aug. 28 primary but recieved enough write-in votes from Republicans to become the GOP's candidate for seat. He told the Reformer he received the certificate of nomination on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
He said he immediately knew he would not accept the nomination but agreed to meet with supporters over the weekend before making an announcement.
"Despite their encouragement to continue on with our campaign and run on my ideas and convictions regardless of party affiliation, the decision is ultimately mine," he said in an e-mail to the Reformer on Wednesday.
