WINOOSKI (AP) - Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is going to be declaring October "Tech Month."

Shumlin is going to be meeting at the Champlain Mill in Winooski Wednesday with representatives of some of the state's high-tech businesses to talk about the importance of high technology to the state and how important it is for the state's economy.

A proclamation he signed last month says the state has a history of attracting and supporting information technology companies that provide high-paying jobs that fit well with the state's rural character.
