Vt. writer on privacy to address ACLU meeting

MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermont-based author Garret Keizer will be addressing members of the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union when they gather for their annual meeting.

The Nov. 10 session at the National Life building in Montpelier begins with the ACLU's business meeting at 9:30, with awards to follow.

Keizer, who lives and works in the Northeast Kingdom, has a new book out called "Privacy," a topic that has been a big agenda item for the ACLU for years. He's set to speak at 1:15 p.m. and the public is invited.

Allen Gilbert, executive director of the ACLU's Vermont chapter, says privacy is the basis for a range of rights, including that against unreasonable searches and the right of women to a range of reproductive health choices.
