CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - The National Weather Service says significant snowfall could fall across southwest Maine and southern New Hampshire during the storm expected Saturday.

Winter storm watches are in effect for those areas. There's still some uncertainty how far north the snowfall will move.

The snow is expected to be heavy and wet, with some areas of southern New Hampshire getting up to a foot or more, with lesser amounts farther north.

A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for much of Vermont, with up to 7 inches of snow expected.

The weather service says the snow will linger into Sunday evening before the storm pulls away.
