The Green Thumbs at Work grants are open to any Vermont business or organization with less than 50 employees.
Grants will be awarded for $1,750 and $650, by the Health Department and program partners Vermont Community Garden Network, Gardener's Supply Company, and garden expert Charlie Nardozzi.
Organizers say a workplace garden can provide employees fresh, healthy local produce while getting them more engaged in their workplace.
The food can go to individual employees, used for shared meals, or be donated to a local food shelf or service agency.
The application deadline is Jan. 21, 2014. The winners will be announced Feb. 10.
