This is to say thanks to the people and institutions that supported the Pliny Park Concert Series this year.
The sponsors included Brattleboro Savings & Loan, Cabinetree, Top of The Hill Grill and Bob Rueter. Thanks to all of the musicians who gave their time and energy freely: Addison Rice & Friends, Sunny Lowdown, Michael Hertz, Michael Mario, Spike Dogtooth, No Grounds, Michael Orlen, Bruce King, Jonathon Sheehan, Jennie Reichman, Intonition, Outlandish Landsharks, and Shelving Rock.
This concert series in its fifth year seems to be gathering a regular small audience that supports and appreciates the musicians. Thanks to you/them, as well. If there is anyone who would like to be involved with the production of this series next year or would like to perform, please contact me at bvd@sover.net.

The Steering Committee of the Loaves and Fishes hot meal site wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to the Vermont Community Foundation for its $500 grant to help with the purchase of a high grade food processor.
Because Loaves and Fishes feeds over 200 warm meals each week at its location in Memorial Hall, Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St., Brattleboro, this will make a huge improvement in its kitchen equipment.
We are grateful that the Community Foundation, through its Small and Inspiring grant program, has chosen our meal site as one of its many charitable goals. We have learned that in total, its funds and programs provide more than $12 million a year in grants and other investments in Vermont.
We would also like to thank all our other donors of gifts, monetary and otherwise, and for the time our many volunteers donate to our community-based program.
Gratefully yours,
L & F Steering Committee
(Judith Myrick, chair; Mary Ellen Bixby, secretary; Jack Lilly, treasurer; Bob Oeser, Dennis Newman, Marion Abell)

The first annual Wellness in Windham Health Festival, organized and coordinated by Grace Cottage Hospital, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital and the Brattleboro Retreat on Sept. 22 was a great success. The Retreat lawn provided a perfect setting for the wide variety of free activities, including entertainment (Zumba dancing and hula-hooping were huge hits), more than 50 booths with interactive demonstrations, free health screenings, fun for children of all ages, and fabulous food for all.
A special thanks to Richards Group for sponsoring Grace Cottage Hospital’s participation in the event, and to members of the Rotary Club of Brattleboro and the Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary Club for volunteering with set-up, take-down, and parking; the Brattleboro Retreat facilities department was also a tremendous help.
We look forward to next year’s Festival but, meanwhile, keep tabs on the other healthy activities provided throughout the year by the three healthcare organizations at www.wellnessinwindham.org.
