Members of the Brattleboro Union High School District #6 will vote on the proposed 2014 budget at the high school’s annual meeting Tuesday.

At the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. in the high school gym, high school board members will ask voters to support the $25.2 million budget which is up 2.8 percent from the current year.

Spending is only expected to increase by about 1.3 percent due to a drop in capital improvement costs.

Last year voters approved $418,000 in capital improvements including $250,000 for new football grandstands, so the drop in capital requests bring down the year-to-year comparison.

A 14 percent increase in health insurance is helping drive up the budget.

At the annual meeting Tuesday voters also will be asked to approve a special article to put $150,000 toward future capital projects.

The meeting Tuesday is for voters in Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, Putney and Vernon.
