On January 19th and 20th at the Hannford Supermarket, RSVP, Connecticut River Transit (The Current) and Hannaford’s sponsored the "Fill the Bus" food collection to support local food shelves. The response from shoppers was overwhelming. The generosity of people in our community is truly amazing. The bus was filled! The Guilford Food Pantry was one of several food shelves that benefited from this event. Heartfelt thanks to the sponsors, volunteers and donors for all your efforts to help us care for those in need.

Londonderry Volunteer Rescue Squad (LVRS) would like to thank the people who came out to help stuff our envelopes on Feb. 4 for our annual fundraising raffle. This year was our biggest turnout so far. LVRS serves the towns of Landgrove, Londonderry, Peru, South Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, Windham, Bondville, Winhall and parts of Jamaica. LVRS continues to provide free ambulance and rescue services and we count on your donations to keep this tradition alive. Our annual fundraising raffle tickets have been mailed and we hope you will take the time to support LVRS. You just might find yourself the winner of a pretty fabulous prize!

As the Town of Brattleboro welcomes a new Selectboard, this is to acknowledge the contributions that outgoing members Dick DeGray and Dora Bouboulis made to BCTV during their tenures on the board. Both advocated using BCTV to provide increased transparency and public involvement in local government.

Dick and Dora increased the meetings we cover by calling for the addition of Brattleboro’s Planning and Development Review Boards to the Channel 10 lineup. Also serving as a member of the BCTV board since 2005, Dora worked to improve the production quality of Selectboard meetings for BCTV viewers, and assisted with the launch of our online video services for those without access to cable.

To Dick and Dora, who never failed to thank BCTV staff and volunteers at the end of each meeting, we return the favor by thanking you for your service to the Town and to BCTV.

I recently had a severe reaction to a medication given during a procedure in the x-ray department at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. I came very, very close to losing my life and perhaps may have, if not for the competent resuscitation team at BMH. My humble thanks to all the nurses, doctors, anesthesia, and E.R. team, plus the respiratory and cardiac therapists -- all the personnel who gave of their talents to save my life.

Subsequent to the event in x-ray I had some chest complications which required admission to Special Care at BMH. Again I was given expert care by all medical personnel. The dietary service was excellent as well.

I am making a gradual recovery at this time but I want the people at BMH to know how deeply my whole family appreciates their efforts and care. We feel very lucky to have this hospital in our community.

Thank you.
