We wanted to thank everyone who worked hard to make "Breakfast with Santa" such a huge success. In particular we'd like to thank Jim Heal for organizing this event. Erika Schapp and the deli staff at the Putney General Store and Pharmacy cooked up a great breakfast. Thank you to the Putney Fire Department for delivering Santa to the breakfast on time! Over 54 children came to eat and visit with Santa (Thank you, Scott Henry!).

Over $2,800 was raised through door donations and sponsorships. This fund-raiser wraps up a big fall for the Foodshelf: our Top-the-Truck food drive event on that rainy day the end of September collected over 1,500 lb and $1,600; the Craft Tour partnership with crafts people donating the sale of an item has raised over $1,000 to date; and a student-run Oxfam America Hunger banquet generated awareness about hunger globally as well as locally.
All monies will allow us to continue shopping to keep our shelves filled, meeting our mission of "providing supplemental healthy food to area people in need." We open our food shelf on Tuesdays from 6–7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9–10 a.m. at the Community Center on Christian Square to anyone in need of food with no questions asked beyond zip codes for tracking.

On behalf of the staff, board, residents and clients of Groundworks Collaborative, I would like to extend our wholehearted thanks to the Windham Regional Career Center's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America for their support with the donation of earmuffs and insoles.
FBLA's earmuff project began when Rick Hege from Shepherd's Flock reached out and proposed the idea of FBLA assembling earmuffs that could be given to those in need of extra warmth in the winter months. FBLA raised the money to pay for the covered velvet bands to make the earmuffs, and with Rick's help, they were able to assemble and donate 65 earmuffs to Groundworks along with a box of boot insoles.
We are very appreciative of Windham's Future Business Leaders of America for putting the planning, time, and effort into for assembling the earmuffs. These earmuffs will be put to good use. FBLA is a generous group – very engaged in the community – and we look forward to continuing this partnership. FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. FBLA is a student organization with members who have an interest in pursuing careers in business. They also help members develop leadership skills and professionalism. FBLA is involved in many different community service activities including March of Dimes, Project Feed the Thousands, and they sponsor Red Cross Blood Drives.
Groundworks Collaborative is the result of the recent merger of Morningside Shelter and the Brattleboro Area Drop In Center. The newly merged organization continues to provide all of the services offered by each of the respective non-profits, including the operation of our community's largest food shelf, and our region's only shelters for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
