Syracuse University

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Jared Joseph James graduated from Syracuse University on May 16 with a bachelor of arts degree in policy studies from the Maxwell School, and a minor in political science. While working toward his degree, he interned at the American Red Cross, and volunteered at Big Brother/Big Sister and the U.S. Veterans Home in Syracuse.

He is a member of the Psi Psi chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He writes and performs music and is in the process of writing a screenplay.

James plans to pursue a career in the music and entertainment industry in Los Angeles, Calif. He is a graduate of Twin Valley High School, and the son of Paul and Wendy James of Wilmington, Vt.

College of St. Joseph

RUTLAND -- Patrick Willard has been named to the dean’s list at The College of St. Joseph in Vermont. A business/accounting major, he has currently finished his second year. He is a 2008 graduate of Bellows Falls Union High School.

Willard is the son of Kevin and Pamela Willard of Bellows Falls, grandson of Tom and Diane Walsh of North Walpole, N.H., and Arthur Willard of Rockingham, and the late Suzanne Willard of Bellows Falls.

Castleton State College

University of New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. -- Kristen Dietrich of Vernon, Vt., received the Academic Achievement Award from the Thompson School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire which recognized outstanding student achievements for the 2009-2010 academic year during its annual Spring Fling event at Cole Hall on May 6.

Haverford College

HAVERFORD, Pa. -- Martin Blood-Forsythe graduated with honors from Haverford College on May 16. He son of Alan Blood and Ellen Forsythe of Putney, Vt., and a graduate of Brattleboro Union High School. Blood-Forsythe received a bachelor’s degree in physics during commencement ceremonies. He graduated summa cum laude with high department honors in physics.

The title of Blood-Forsythe’s senior thesis was "Emergent Inflation from a Cosmological BCS Neutrino Condensate."

Samuel Gerstin, son of Julian Gerstin and step-son Carlene Raper of Putney, Vt., and a graduate of Lick Wilmerding High School, graduated with honors from Haverford College on May 16. Gerstin received a bachelor’s degree in French, with a minor in independent studies in North African Studies. He graduated with departmental honors in French.

The title of Gerstin’s senior thesis was "La Corruption Sexuelle à Travers les Ouvrages Médicaux de la fin du Dix-Huitième Siècle: La Sexualité Autonomisée."

Gerstin was involved in a variety of campus activities including playing on the varsity cricket team.

St. Lawrence University

CANTON, N.Y. -- The following Vermont students received a degree at St. Lawrence University’s commencement ceremony on May 16 on campus in Canton:

-- Kyle M. Avery of West Dover, a graduate of Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Mass., received a degree in economics and psychology.

-- Lisa C. Cameron of Brattleboro, a graduate of Dublin School in Dublin, N.H., received a degree, cum laude, in psychology and minored in African studies and sociology.

-- Benjamin W. Partridge of Windham, a graduate of Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, and received a degree in music and minored in geology.

Clarkson University

POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Nathan L. Moore of Wilmington, Vt., graduated from Clarkson University in May 2010 with a bachelor of science degree in environmental science and policy.

Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Brandon Riker of Brattleboro, Vt., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale E. Riker, graduated magna cum laude from Washington College in Chestertown with a bachelor of arts degree in economics on May 16. He received departmental honors which included the Wall Street Journal Award and the Louis L. Goldstein ‘35 Award.

BURLINGTON -- Torin L. Evans of Chesterfield, N.H., received a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in biology within the College of Arts & Sciences during May commencement ceremonies at the University of Vermont.

Candace J. Brooks of Jamaica was recognized at an Honors Day Ceremony held by the College of Education and Social Services at the University of Vermont earlier this spring.

Brooks received the Social Work Outstanding Community Service Award given for significant contributions to the quality of people’s lives through important community services. Brooks was also inducted into Phi Alpha Honor Society for social work students.

Meghan Maureen Lockerby of Saxtons River was recognized at an Honors Day Ceremony held by College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Vermont earlier this spring.

Lockerby received the Exceptional Senior in Athletic Training Award presented by the Department of Medical Laboratory and Radiation Sciences.

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine

STANDISH, Maine -- Melissa Ferris of Brattleboro, Vt., received a bachelor of science degree in general studies through the Graduate & Professional Studies division at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, which offers online education for working adults.

Adam Stanclift of Chesterfield, N.H., and Alyssa Dolan of West Townshend, Vt., were named to the honors list at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine for the spring semester.

Katey Kamal of Chesterfield graduated from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in May. Kamal and Patrick Willard of Bellows Falls, Vt., were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.

St. Lawrence University

CANTON, N.Y. -- Kelly M. Skinner of Londonderry, Vt., a junior at St. Lawrence University in Canton, has been selected for inclusion on the dean’s list for academic achievement during the spring semester

Skinner graduated from Stratton Mountain School in Vermont. She is majoring in fine arts and sociology. Student Alumni Association and alpine skiing are among the activities that she has participated in on campus.
