A Christmas Eve candlelight worship with hymns will be held at the Third Congregational Church UCC in Alstead at 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.
First United Methodist Church
A Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 18 Town Crier Drive, from 7 to 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24.
Trinity Lutheran Church
A Christmas Eve Living Nativity will be held for both children and adults at 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 161 Western Ave. Pastor Peggy Yingst will lead the procession outside the church. Refreshments will be served. A traditional Candlelight service with Holy Communion will follow at 7:30 p.m. The Candlelight Service will be repeated later in the evening at 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day, the service at 10:30 a.m. will highlight Christmas lessons and carols.
First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church at 190 Main St. will offer a moving candlelight service on Saturday, Christmas Eve, at 7 p.m. The service will begin with the prelude, "Meditation on ‘Stille Nacht' " written by Franklin Ritter and played by Luella Frechette, music director. Favorite Christmas hymns will be sung by all and the Christmas Story will be read from the Bible. A sacred dance will be offered by the Rev. Suzanne Andrews reenacting the song, "Mary Did You Know?" Everyone will light candles, singing to "Silent Night."
Centre Congregational Church
Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St., Brattleboro, is offering two Christmas Eve services on Saturday, Dec. 24. The first service is at 4:30 p.m. at a Family Service, where the Advent Wreath candles and the Christ Candle will be lit. Tori Svec and Haley Marcil will tell the Christmas story with the aid of the Pageant of Candles, and lead the congregation in singing "Silent Night" as the individual handheld candles are lit.
The 7 p.m. worship service is Lessons and Carols, adapted from a Festival of Lessons and Carols. Christmas Day services will be held at First Congregational Church in West Brattleboro, 880 Western Avenue, at 10 a.m., led by the Rev. Joe Amico of First Congregational and the Rev. Carra McFadden of Centre Church.
First Congregational Church
The Christmas Eve Service, at First Congregational Church, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro, is at 7 p.m. The service begins with a selection of carols by The Christmas Band, directed by Steve Rice, and continues on with the Christmas Story in scripture and carols. Familiar carols will be sung. The service also includes, candle lighting , and two anthems by the senior choir, "Shout For Joy" arranged by Peter Amidon and "Gentle Mary Laid Her Child" by Pethel. Organist will be William McKim His prelude will be "Two Meditations on Christmas Carols" by Clokey and postlude "Let All The Angels of God Worship Him," by Handel.
Community Bible Chapel
A Candlelight Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. at Community Bible Chapel, 107 Atwood St. On Sunday, Dec. 25, at 9:30 a.m., a Christmas Celebration Service will take place. The chapel is handicapped accessible. Information: 802-254-2910.
Green Mountain Chapel
The Green Mountain Chapel will be conducting its Christmas Eve candlelight service on Saturday at 6 p.m. All are welcome to take some time out of the business of the season to attend this quiet celebration of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. St. Michael's Roman

St. Michael's Episcopal Church
Christmas Eve at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, located at Bradley Avenue and Putney Road, will have: 4 p.m., The Christmas Pageant and Eucharist. This service is geared toward families and young children with a Christmas Pageant telling the birth story of our Lord. 9 p.m., Holy Eucharist, carols, incense and candles provide an atmosphere of great joy and holy wonder. All Souls Church
All Souls Church Young Souls will present "La Befana," a play adapted by Brian G. Eslinger from an Italian Christmas story about an eccentric old woman, on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. at All Souls Curch Unitarian Universalist.
The traditional Candlelight Vespers Service begins at 5:30 p.m., led by the Rev. Barbro Hansson, with instrumental music. In addition to the lighting of the flaming chalice, Advent and menorah candles will be lit. The All Souls Choir will sing two anthems. "A Christmas Carol," and "Calm On the Listening Ear of Night." The service also features the Nativity Story and Christmas carols. The offering will be given to the Morningside Shelter and Winter Overflow Homeless Shelter.
More than 70 luminaries, dedicated to those who have rekindled the light in the donors, will light the way into All Souls Church. There is no service on Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve services at the Dummerston Congregational Church in Dummerston Center are at 4 and 7 p.m. The 4 p.m. service is a simple service of lessons and carols especially appropriate for families with young children. The 7 p.m. candlelight service will include the choir under the direction of the Rev. Dr. Larrimore Crockett and a story by Mark Brown. The Christmas Eve offering will go to the Drop-In Center.
First Baptist Church
The First Baptist Church of Bellows Falls will celebrate Christmas with two services. A Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols will be held at 7 p.m. Interim Pastor, the Rev. Malcolm Hamblett, has rewritten the Christmas passages into Haiku poetry and will share these readings during the service. Familiar carols, special music and instruments will accompany the readings.
The service will conclude in candlelight. On Christmas Day worship will be at 11 a.m. All are invited. Pastor Hamblett will be preaching on John 1:1-14, "Jesus -- The Word."
Immanuel Episcopal Church
Immanuel Episcopal Church, 20 Church St., Bellows Falls will be marking the birth of Jesus Christ with two festive services on Christmas Eve. At 3:30 p.m., a quiet, reflective celebration of Holy Eucharist is offered to usher in the feast. There will be no music at this service.
At 7 p.m., the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated with carols, choir, incense and candlelight. This is the principal and traditional Christmas celebration. On Sunday, Dec. 25, there will be no services.
The North Hinsdale Community Church will celebrate its Annual Candle Light and Communion Service on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. There will be special music provided from some local musicians as well as Holy Communion and a children's version of the Nativity.
The church will hold a service on Christmas Day at 10 a.m. with the full reading of the Christmas Story, as well as singing of some of the classic Christmas carols.
The Christmas Eve Divine Liturgy at St. George Greek Orthodox Church is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. followed by singing of traditional carols in Greek and English and a reception in Hellenic Hall. The public is invited to attend. St. George is located at 70 West St. in Keene. No services will be held Christmas Day.
All are invited to a service of Carols and Candles at 7:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve at the Newfane Congregational Church. Special music will include Jillian and Megan Grip singing "Once in Royal David's City," the Newfane Handbell Choir playing "Silent Night," the church choir singing "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming" and Rich Grip singing "O Holy Night." The benediction, "Dona Nobis Pacem" will be sung by the church choir. A postlude, "O Come, Little Children," will be played by organist Martha LaMoria. The Advent Candles for Christmas Eve will be lit by the Joseph Cook Family.
Christ's Church of Saxtons River (UCC/ABC) invites the community to participate in its annual Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24 led by the Rev. Susie Webster-Toleno and music director Jane Cook. The handbell choir, directed by Mary Jane Bosworth, will perform.
Amanda Robinson will sing "O Holy Night," accompanied by her mother, Eric Robinson. The service will include lessons and carols retelling the story of Christ's birth and singing carols.
The Rhythmic Dancers, directed by Roberta Geist, will tell the story with their annual candle dance.
The congregation will sing "Silent Night." The service is family-friendly and wheel-chair accessible.
The annual candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held Saturday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m. at the Walpole Unitarian Church at the corner of Main and Union streets. The Rev. Telos Whitfield will offer her sermon, "Touched by the Holy: Our Christmas Eve Service." There will be traditional carols, and the even closes with the lighting of candles by all who attend. There is no worship service on Christmas Day.
The Wardsboro Yoked Parish will hold Christmas Eve services at 5:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church on Main Street. There will be no services on Sunday, Christmas Day.
The Christmas Eve Service at First Congregational Church, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro will begin at 7 p.m. with the Christmas Story in scripture and carols. The service will also include candle lighting, music by the senior choir, and carols by the Christmas Band directed by Steve Rice.
The Annual Christmas Carol Service will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the West Dummerston Baptist Church. The church is located on West Street (in the village, off of Route 30, approximately 7 miles north of Brattleboro). Light refreshments will be served following the service. All are welcome.
On Christmas Eve, the Congregational Church of Westminster West will host its annual late-night Christmas Eve service at 11 p.m. Worshipers will have a chance light a candle in memory of loved ones. The Rev. Susie Webster-Toleno will lead the service of lessons and carols and will share holy communion. There will be special music by Nick Keil and Tom Griffith, Charlotte Gifford, with Jenny Holan and Tom Baehr on recorder and flute. Several carols will be sung and the Christmas Story will be told. "Silent Night" by candlelight. The service will end by midnight, with the singing of "Joy to the World."
There will be a candlelight service on Friday, Dec. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilmington Baptist Church.
