BRATTLEBORO

In observance of the 4th of July holiday, all town offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, with the exception of emergency services.

Parking will be free at all metered spaces and in the pay-and-display lots on Wednesday, July 4. All other violations, including extended parking will be enforced.

Brooks Memorial Library will be closed on Wednesday, July 4.

Trash and recycling will not be picked up on Wednesday, July 4. All trash and recycling pick-up normally scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays will be delayed by one day.

The BeeLine bus will not run on Wednesday, July 4. It will run its normal schedule the rest of the week. Any questions should be directed to The Current at 802-460-7433.

The office of the Brattleboro Housing Authority will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Fourth of July

Wardsboro Street Fair: 9 a.m., Wardsboro. 63rd Annual Fourth of July Street Fair and Parade. 10 a.m., parade begins. Craft vendors, book sale, art show, hamburger booth, white elephant table, quilt display, strawberry shortcake, chicken barbecue, one-man circus, pirate ship, many activities, and a sugaring in Vermont display.
Downtown Brattleboro:

9 a.m., Bike decorating, at Vermont Inn Pizza.

9:30 a.m., Firecracker 4-Miler Road Race.

10 a.m., "By the People: Brattleboro Goes Fourth" parade, Canal to Main Street to the Common.

Following the parade, at American Legion Post 5, 32 Linden St., American Legion Band concert.

At Living Memorial Park:

1-9:30 p.m., Food and family activities.

1 p.m., Small Fry Baseball All-Star Game.

2-3:30 p.m., Children's penny carnival (face painting, games).

3 p.m., Swim races.

5:30-7:15 p.m., The Brattlyn Brothers classic rock band.

6:30 p.m., Children's concert with T-Bone.

7:45-9:30 p.m., Peter Miles and his rock/funk/blues/jazz band.

9:30 p.m., Fireworks by Northstar.

Saxtons River Independence Day:

8:30 a.m., 5K Firecracker road race.

9:30 a.m., Parade.

10 a.m., Street fair, games, music on the bandstand.

2:30 p.m., Saxtons River Pirates vs. Bellows Falls Legion baseball game.

5 p.m., Square dancing and old-time fiddling.

6:30 p.m., Shakin' All Over band performs.

Dusk, Fireworks.

Newfane Flag Memorial:

9 a.m., (or any time after), Newfane Common, Route 30, Newfane. Help needed for this year's installation of the Iraq War Flag Memorial. Supplies for painting additional flags to update the memorial available. Contact Lauri Richardson, Williamsville, 802-348-7152.
