-- An 82-year-old New York man was involved in a single motor vehicle accident along I-91 on Aug. 3.
According to Vermont State Police Trooper James Matthews, emergency personnel responded to the scene of the crash near Exit 1, where road signs indicated a possible accident, but the vehicle was gone.
Matthews stated that shortly after the crash, the driver, Russell Powers, of Rochester, N.Y., was able to drive the damaged vehicle about three quarters of a mile to a store along Canal Street.
Investigation revealed that Powers was traveling north and was distracted. His vehicle, a 2001 Geo Prism, veered off the highway and struck a road sign, smashing into his windshield and damaging his left front tire.
Powers wasn’t injured during the crash and Matthews said no citation was given.
-- A Massachusetts man was arrested for assaulting a health care worker at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
On Aug. 1, at about 4:30 p.m., members of the Brattleboro Police Department responded to the hospital for a report of a combative patient.
Investigation revealed that Thomas Lamere, 42, of Williamsburg, Mass., had assaulted one of the employees. He was cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on Sept. 18, to answer the charge.
-- Kevin Baker, 41, of Brattleboro, was arrested on July, 29, after police said he was caught attempting to shoplift $18.55 worth of merchandise
Baker was released and cited to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on Sept. 4, to answer the charge.
-- A Brattleboro man was arrested on Aug. 2, after making a threatening phone call.
Todd J. Maskell, 39, was cited for disorderly conduct via telephone and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on Sept. 18, to answer the charge.
Grafton
-- Police are investigating a burglary along Stagecoach Road.
According to Vermont State Police Trooper Bryson Lunderville, on Aug. 2, it was discovered that the copper plumbing in the basement of a woman’s home had all been removed.

Guilford
-- On Aug. 1, at about 5:49 p.m., the Vermont State Police received a 911 call reporting that someone had stolen a red 2008 Toyota Yaris.
During the investigation a trooper learned that an unknown person entered an occupied residence along Guilford Center Road, grabbed the spare keys to the car and drove off sometime between 4 p.m., and 5:49 p.m.
According to Trooper Travis Valcourt, the theft was discovered when the victim’s wife returned home and found their car was missing from the driveway.

Londonderry
-- According to Vermont State Police Trooper Nicholas Arlington, someone broke into the Londonderry Transfer Station between the evening of Aug. 2 and the morning of Aug. 3, and stole numerous tools, scrap metal and copper.

Marlboro
-- A New Hampshire woman was uninjured when she crashed her 2012 Ford Focus along Route 9 on Aug. 4.
According to Vermont State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Trudeau, at about 9:25 a.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene of a single car crash.
Ashley M. Peroni, 27, of Milford, N.H., was driving west along Route 9 in Marlboro when she was distracted by her GPS that had dropped to the floor and as she reached for it, her vehicle veered off and struck a road sign causing damage to her car’s right rear door and quarter panel.
She was issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for failing to maintain her travel lane.
Townshend
-- The Vermont State Police said they’ve received reports of scam phone calls being made to elderly residents of Windham County.
On Aug. 3, Senior Trooper Genevra Cushman said she got a call from a woman who stated she’s been getting phone calls from someone claiming their company could help her with prescription drug costs.
The victim said she’s received calls for the previous two nights at roughly the same time, 9:30 p.m.
The callers stated that they were attempting to contact seniors in the area and both times asked the woman for her bank account information. When she refused the caller hung up.
