BRATTLEBORO -- Few details are known but police say the death of a 47-year-old woman is considered "suspicious."
Brattleboro Police Sgt. Mark Carignan, in a press release Saturday night, wrote that a woman's body was discovered by a resident at a home along Western Avenue.
"The death is suspicious in nature and police continue to investigate the circumstances around it," Carignan wrote.
The woman has been positively identified and her family has been notified but her name or where she's from is being withheld at this time.
Carignan stated that no other information about the incident is being released to "ensure the integrity of the investigation."
The Chief Medical Examiner has been called to perform an autopsy but it's unclear at this time when that will happen.
Although the woman's death is being investigated, Carignan stated there's no concern for public safety in connection to this incident or the investigation.
More information will be released as it's available, he wrote.
